Over 10 years later and happy to see this restaurant still here and even busier than before. I came on a Friday evening and there was a short wait for a party of 2. Service was great and food was amazing. Hamburg curry - reminded me of Japan. I do wish the curry was a little spicier but it hit the spot. Added eggplant and green beans to it as well and they also have a lot of other toppings to choose from. Tonkatsu side - crust was crispy, but I felt some sides were a little too thick. Meat was juicy and tender. I was surprised and would get this again. Basil Udon - basil sauce was exactly what I imagined it to taste like and it was so good! I just couldn't finish all of it because there was too much sauce and not enough tomato sauce to balance the flavors.
I came on a Saturday around 630. It is in the corner of a large plaza. There is plenty of parking on ground level and garage but it does get packed quick during peak hours. It's a small restaurant with a few booths and tables. They have restrooms in the back. We were seated pretty quick and service was really nice. I got the Seafood Mentai Udon with corn soup. Both were very flavorful and creamy. I am 100% returning to try more!
Craving Japanese comfort food in the Rowland area? Midoh has got you covered in that area! It is located in the Diamond plaza, which if you go around peak dinner time, GOOD LUCK PARKING! You might as well park on the street nearby if you don't want to stress out. Anyway, me and my girlfriend walked in and we were greeted by a server. Luckily we didn't have to wait and was seated right away. I ordered the chicken katsu and my girlfriend ordered the hamburg steak. Both meals came with corn soup or miso soup and a salad (cabbage salad for the katsu while the hamburg steak had a more traditional salad). The miso soup I got was pretty good and my girlfriend really enjoyed her corn soup. The chicken katsu was pretty crispy and the chicken was not dry at all. I also really liked the mashed potato that comes with the meal. The katsu sauce also had the right amount of tanginess too. My girlfriend thought the hamburg steak was delicious and filling. Both dishes were $17.50 each and I thought that was reasonably priced given the portion. Overall, I really liked Midoh and I found their service, ambiance of Japanese anime playing in the background, food quality and value to be a winner in my book. I definitely would come back here if I was in the Rowland area.
Located in Diamond Plaza toward the end of the strip, Midoh is a classic Japanese cuisine. The Diamond Plaza provides plenty of parking, but on busy days, you may be waiting a long time to find a parking spot. I came here on a Sunday evening, and this place was packed. There is NO online waitlist, which means, you need to write your name down for a place in line. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor looks very homey and cultural. And outdoor seating provides heating lamps. I ordered the Tonkatsu Loin, and it was perfectly crispy and cooked to perfection. Every bite was juicy and packed with flavor. The creamy corn soup was a nice app. They provided sesame seeds with a grounder to add to the sauce for more flavor. The service was good. I asked what the difference is between the loin and filet. They told me the loin is more fatty and juicer and the filet is more lean. And they were spot on with the loin. The only downside of the visit was the wait time for the food. After I ordered, waited about 30 minutes for the food. Overall, a place I would come back to.
This little shop is always tasty! I love their mentaiko udon noodles. Workers are friendly and fast, and food comes out quickly. All of their food that we tried so far is pretty decent. I don't love the ambiance of the restaurant it feels a bit dark and plain, but the delicious food makes up for it.
Dined here for lunch during the weekend. There was a bit of a wait but it went by pretty quick. There is plenty of shops in the plaza to kill time. There is plenty of parking, but it could get chaotic depending on the time you come. Service was friendly and fast. I ordered the fried oyster which came with 7pcs, they were on the smaller side. The meal came with rice, salad and choice of corn or miso soup. I loved the corn soup, it was sweet and savory at the same time. The fried oysters were great, it came with tar tar sauce that paired well together. The oysters were fried perfectly, the batter was light but also crispy. My husband got the tonkatsu lion & filet combo and a side of curry sauce. We both agreed that the filet was better and more tender. It came with a generous amount of meat that he couldn't even finish. It was his work lunch the next day. The side curry sauce was also a huge portion, way more than enough if you're just using it as dipping sauce or to eat with rice. Overall everything was great, I would definitely come back and try more things on the menu.
I haven't been to Midoh in forever but I came with my sister today and everything was really good I got the shrimp katsu & pork loin combo while my sister got the chicken nanban. We also got a mentai seafood udon pasta to share The katsu were so freakin crispy and we LOVE the corn soup ugh it's so good!!!!!! We missed the corn soup so bad bro The mental seafood udon was our absolute favorite dish tho. It was soooo creamy & flavorful. And packed with seafood!! We straight killed that bowl of udon cus it was litcherly the best mentaiko udon ever We came before their break time so around 2pm so there wasn't anybody else inside other than us but service was good & the food was great! Parking SUCKS cus it's in diamond plaza and ppl can't drive or park in Rowland heights but Midoh is definitely worth the stress xD
Came here with some friends on a weekday dinner during peak dinner hours and we still think about the katsu! We put our group down and was told we had to wait about an hour or so. We spent the time browsing some of the other shops in the plaza, like the Asian skincare/makeup store. We were planning for our trip to Japan and Korea at the time, so it was very apropos. We all got the curry of some kind - I got the curry with hamburg steak because I was curious about the hamburg. It's essentially a big beef patty haha but it was really juicy and flavorful. The curry was thicccc without being gloppy, and the flavor was on point. Not too salty either. The tonkatsu loin that my friend got was perfect - crispy on the outside, just the right amount of breading, and juicy on the inside. Prices were great, the portions were filling, staff were friendly and kind. Ambiance is casual, great for a quick dinner. Definitely worth checking out this place!
